Dave, Defined.

Dave is a violinist and public school teacher. He studied violin with Leo Wigdorchik at the University of Toronto, where he was the recipient of the Faculty of Music's Percy Faith Award, and the Women's Art Association of Toronto's Margaret Maude Phillips Award. Dave received his Bachelor of Music from U of T in 1999, and went on to complete his Bachelor of Education at OISE/UT in 2000. As a music education student, he was selected as principal second violinist of the university's chamber, symphony, and opera orchestras, positions usually awarded to students of music performance. After his graduation, Dave accepted a teaching position with his local District Public School Board, and spent the next five years helping to build the first elementary school regional arts program. At the same time, he built from scratch and established the only elementary strings program in the District at the time.

In addition to his full-time job as a public school music teacher, Dave serves as concertmaster with the Brampton Symphony and Oakville Chamber orchestras, and has appeared as guest concertmaster with the Etobicoke Philharmonic, Cathedral Bluffs Symphony, and Yorkville Romantic Evening Orchestras. He has been featured as soloist a number of times with community orchestras and in recital. Dave also performs as a freelance violinist. In 2001, he performed in Persian pop diva Googoosh's comeback concert in front of 12,000 at the Air Canada Centre. Dave's violin, which he has been playing for 13 years now, is an 1854 Pietro Floriani. It turned 150 last year!

Dave is much more than just music and teaching though, as evidenced by daveonline. He enjoys various creative pursuits in digital media, from photography to videography, music composition to web design. When not pursuing the expression of his philosophical ideals through computer media, Dave enjoys blowing up aliens and playing cops and robbers online.
